Drawing on the success of SAI Leaders and Stakeholdermeeting in 2016 and 2017, IDI and UNDESA co-organised a meeting for SAI leaders and stakeholders on auditing SDGs on 22 and 23 July 2019 at UN Headquater New York. More than 240 people participated in two-day meeting, including SAI leadership and staff from all INTOSAI regions, representatives from INTOSAI, IDI Board members, civil society, governments and other stakeholders.
During the first day of the meeting, beside launching of IDI KSC Publication, results and lessons from the SDG preparedness audit were shared by speakers from SAIs and stakeholders. Sessions focused on key dimensions covered by those audits: institutions for SDG implementation, means of implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of the SDGs. The second day of the meeting focused on the way forward. Participants discussed how to move from auditing preparedness to auditing the implementation of selected SDG goals and targets, considering both the SAI strategic level and the audit practice level.
