Can SAIs move governments to action using various forms of audit?

Can SAIs move governments to action using various forms of audit?

This side event generated substantive discussions on the audit conclusions and recommendations as well as lessons learned from auditing preparedness for SDG implementation conducted by SAIs in Asia and Pacific countries. It revealed the government’s response to the audit recommendation in order to improve the quality of SDG implementation. Discussions highlighted that SAIs can stimulate governments to adopt an integrated approach, addressing the policy links between the different dimensions of sustainable development. It also mentioned that relevant audits should preferably be coordinated with a country’s VNR, e.g. through the inclusion of the recommendations in the VNR report.
