Stakeholder Strategies Review Workshop

In order to make a difference in the life of citizens, SAIs must remain relevant to their stakeholders. Recognizing the importance of structuring and maintaing effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders, SAIs from CREFIAF have been developing strategies and action plans for improved stakeholder engagement. These plans were peer reviewed at a five-day workshop in Ndjamena, Chad from 4th to 8th February 2019. The workshop, part of IDI's SAIs Engaging with Stakeholders initiative, was attended by SAIs teams from Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, and Togo.

The strategies and action plans were reviewed with the help of peers and mentors, are expected to be approved by the respective heads of SAIs by mid-June 2019. This will be followed by the implementation stage, where up to 4 SAIs will be supported in taking forward some of the projects identified for enhancing collaboration with their stakeholders in the future. This could encompass topics such as communication enhancement or the development of collaboration platforms and tools with specific stakeholders, such as parliament or civil society organisations.
