IDI-PASAI Quality Assurance workshop in Vanuatu

The IDI-PASAI Quality Assurance (QA) Workshop for Pacific Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) was held from the 12th to 16th November 2018 in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The objective of this workshop was to develop a pool of QA reviewers to strengthen the QA mechanism and peer review process of SAIs in the PASAI region. 17 participants from the SAIs of Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu attended the workshop. The Auditor General of Vanuatu, Mr Caleb Sandy who was at the entire event. “My purpose of sitting in the workshop is to determine how quality assurance is inserted into the functions of an audit.” This workshop is delivered under IDI’s ISSAI Implementation Initiative – 3i Programme where quality assurance is one of the programme elements. Recognizing quality as the focal point of all SAI work and its business processes, IDI supports the implementation of quality assurance both the SAI level and audit level. 

The workshop covered issues regarding establishing a robust quality control system in the SAI and conducting quality assurance reviews of financial, performance and compliance audits by applying the respective ISSAI based quality assurance tools. The trained pool is expected to facilitate QA activities, perform QA reviews in their SAIs and the region. A team comprising members from the IDI, PASAI Secretariat, the SAIs of Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, and New Zealand facilitated the workshop. The IDI acknowledge the contribution from SAI Vanuatu for hosting and PASAI secretariat for cooperating with the IDI in delivering the workshop.
