From the 26^th to the 27^th of September 2017, representatives of IDI (Ola Hoem and Freddy Ndjemba) held the first SAI level visit to SAI Gabon, as part of the SAI level support to be provided throughout the pilot phase of the IDI Program on SAI independence.

 

A key feature of the visit was the signing ceremony of an MOU between IDI and the Court of Accounts of Gabon related to the implementation of the Programme.

The signing ceremony was attended by various stakeholders of the Court of Accounts, including Members of Government, Vice-Presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate, the World Bank, and the Civil Society.

The next phase of the SAI level support will include technical support by reviewing and providing comments on the Act that has been drafted by the Court of Accounts, as well as advocacy support through engaging with key stakeholders in the legislative process, especially the Government and the Parliament.

A similar visit will take place at the end of November in Suriname and at a later stage in Papua New Guinea, which are the two other SAIs that will be supported during the pilot phase of the Program.
