On 22 August 2019, the National Audit Office of The Gambia (NAO) launched its Strategic Development Plan 2020-2024.
The launch event was held at the new office complex and attended by members of the National Assembly, Government, CSOs, the media, development partners and NAO staff.
The new strategic plan sets out the NAO’s top priorities for the next five years, including:
- The external outcomes it seeks to achieve
- The external outputs that will contribute to those outcomes
- The capacities it will build to deliver those outputs
The priorities are informed by the NAO’s successes and challenges in implementing the previous strategic plan as well as its institutional environment, emerging risks and stakeholder needs. The plan also includes an implementation matrix, risk mitigation strategies and a monitoring and evaluation plan.
The planning process was supported by experts from IDI, AFROSAI-E, and the SAIs of Norway and Ghana as part of the Accelerated Peer-Support Partnership programme.
